Elliot Reaching For the...?

I have seen many posts on both tumblr, twitter, and some message boards of EO shippers (not sure about the rest of the SVU fans, I've never seen anything said otherwise) claiming that Elliot was really reaching for his cell phone. Here's one page from tumblr to prove my point. Time to prove them wrong:

Elliot's cell phone rings. He was sleeping and didn't want to pick it up. As it was ringing, Kathy picked up despite Elliot's protests. To sum it up: Elliot did not want to pick up the phone, nor did he want Kathy to. But Kathy didn't listen...
Elliot reaches over...did he changed his mind and decided he wanted to talk to Olivia?
Did Kathy pushed Elliot's hand away so he wouldn't take his own cell phone to talk to his partner? Oh wait, apparently Elliot was not at all reaching for his cell phone. He wanted to hold his wife's hand!
And there you have it.

Conclusion: Elliot wasn't reaching for his cell phone. At all. He wanted to hold his wife's hand. The only time he wanted his phone back was after Kathy hung up so he could put it back on his nightstand. Elliot had no intentions on picking up his phone call from Olivia before, during, or after. If Elliot wanted his cell phone, then he would've done a much better effort to get it.
Sorry EO shippers but those are the facts.

'Law & Order: SVU's' E.P. Spills on Storylines, Guest Stars and Getting Naked

Zap2Zip; August 15, 2008
A Conversation with Neal Baer

Of course I have to ask you about the casting of Ellen Burstyn. Is she going to be in just one episode or several?
Episode four, for sure. After that, I don't know, we'll see. She's definitely in the fourth hour, which is going to air in October. And she plays Elliot's mother, Bernadette Stabler.

And she has some mental issues?
She suffers from a psychiatric disorder, yes.

Long-time fans are wondering why we've heard about Stabler's father in the past-- that he was abusive --but we've never heard a peep about his mother before.

There's a reason for that. He doesn't talk about her.

And we're going to find out why in episode four?

We're definitely going to find out why.

How did this storyline come about? Was Ellen's casting first or...?
The story came first, but she was our first choice to play the part. We wrote it with her in mind and we're absolutely thrilled to have the person we thought of in this really important role. We're always very lucky that we get phenomenal actors. You know, we have two Emmy nominations this year for guest stars Robin Williams and Cynthia Nixon. Leslie Caron and Marcia Gay Harden were nominated last year and Leslie won. But yes, when we decided to bring Stabler's mother into the show, it was for a good reason. It has to do with his family, there's a crisis of faith. CCH Pounder plays his lawyer, which is great. She's been a
lawyer on the show before, but because she's such a tough shark, she's now going to come and be Stabler's lawyer.

His lawyer for…?
That's the big thing.

That's what you can't tell me.
It's a big part of the show.

And how about James Brolin?
Jim Brolin and Chris Elliot star in episode where [Jim] plays an astronaut who was Stabler's mentor and his boss when Stabler was in the Marines. So there's a connection between the two of them and very much of a flirting connection between him and Benson as well.

Okay, and regarding Elliot, I've also heard that we'll be seeing more with his daughter this season, she's in some trouble, possibly sex, drugs. Does that tie in with the Ellen Burstyn episode?
It does indeed. Remember I told you something about credit cards?

Ellen Burstyn to guest on Law & Order SVU

Huffington Post; August 12, 2008

Recently, we told you about James Brolin appearing in a guest role on Law & Order: SVU, as a man from Elliot's past. Now, there'll be even more development for Christopher Meloni's character when Ellen Burstyn shows up on SVU to play Stabler's mother.

Oh, and she's not your button-downed, upright all together mom. She's bipolar, which is to say that she has a serious psychological disorder.

TVGuide.com reported that it learned that Ms. Burstyn's guest role will be very dramatic -- "explosive" -- and is slated for one episode. Thinking about what's been happening on SVU, the major storyline for Elliot has been revolving around his wife Kathy having another child.

The baby has brought the Stablers back together after a separation. Could Elliot's mother be coming to New York to see her new grandchild and something else go wrong? Hmm...

Oscar-winner Burstyn (Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore) has been busy on the big screen as well as TV. She's a four-time Emmy nominee, including one this year as Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for HBO's Big Love. She was great as Barb's mother, but I think she's likely to lose the Emmy to Cynthia Nixon, ironically, for a role she had on SVU in 2007, as a severely disturbed woman with multiple personalities.

Clock- Kathy wanted to know why Elliot haven't signed the divorce papers; he didn't know
Cage- Kathy and Kathleen went to see Elliot in the hospital after he was stabbed by a pen. Elliot introduced Kathy to Dani as his wife

Choreographed- Elliot took Kathy's call about Dickie's suspension; Olivia was glad that they were still talking
Scheherezade- The family attended the twins' confirmation ceremony; Elliot suggested to go out for lunch but they had other plans. The separation has been hard on the kids.
Burned- Kathy did not hire the divorce lawyer who suggested the 'Silver Bullet Strategy' to accuse the husband of abuse. Elliot used to talk about Kathy all the time. Kathy was concerned for Elliot about moving on with his life- she wanted him to sign the divorce papers. Later, Elliot delivered the signed papers, leaving them in the mailbox rang the doorbell and left after he turned back to see Kathy coming out and got them before driving away. Elliot realized that when love warps into hate, there's nothing they won't do. He didn't want Kathy to ever regret him.
Dependent- After being cleared to keep his job, Elliot went to see Kathy to talk to her. He loved his job and his family. Elliot nearly lost them both. He wanted to come home.

Sin- Elliot had to cancel a drink date with Kathy to talk about him moving back home
Annihilated- Elliot thanked Kathy for letting him see the children. Kathy invited him to stay. Elliot closed the door, got undressed, and they made love
Screwed- Kathy visited the squad to talk to Elliot. He could tell something was wrong. They went to the crib to talk in private. Kathy doesn't care about her pride or her ego- she wanted Elliot to come home for her, not for the kids. Kathy was pregnant. Elliot was stunned, down on himself, but planned to move back home

AOL Interview with Allison Siko

November 2010
I'm Allison Siko, I play Kathleen Stabler on Law & Order: SVU

So, can you tell me a little about the episode [Gray]?
This episode is really reaching out to college students and what goes on in college and how rape can sometimes be put under the mattress so to say, to keep things quiet and keep the school's reputation. It's about young girls, how they don't have a right to be violated.

Why do you think it's important for a show like Law & Order: SVU that has this voice to raise awareness of this rape issue?
SVU is the perfect person-show entity to represent all this because they are able to reach so many. We have such a wide fan base that some people are aware of what's going on and if we can be the 1 hour of their week in their living room that informs them on the topic, such a college date-rape. Why not? Might as well reach out when you are talking to somebody

Tackles Sexual Assault on College Campuses

November 16, 2010
...In the episode [Gray], Detective Elliot Stabler, played by actor Christopher Meloni, speaks about rape prevention at a rally at his daughter's college. While there, a student accuses another of rape; an investigaton of rape on a college campus ensues, and the team is subsequently assigned to follow it.

Meloni, who plays the father of a college student, discussed the show's purpose in targeting college campuses. He explained that the writers and actors alike wanted to focus on "the gray area of date rape and alcohol".

What's Next: Stabler (Christopher Meloni) butts heads with his wife and daughter in a story about alcohol abuse and college rape

Inside the Stabler Home: Living Room/Den

Through out the 12 seasons, the Stabler Living room went through many changes- you would think that Kathy has some kind of interior decorating addiction.
Starting in season 1, the living room was an open room that shared it's space with the kitchen and a casual dining room (breakfast nook?).

The stairs have gone through several changes itself- starting with having 'two' parts with a landing in the middle.
The fireplace was also to make several changes over the seasons.
At some point during season 1, the piano was moved to be replaced by a computer.
In season 2, the living room/kitchen changed a bit and would remain this way in season 3
Note the fireplace went from brick to white. The walls also changed color
The couches in season 2 are different from season 1- a complete makeover!

By season 7, Kathy and the kids moved out, leaving Elliot home alone. The walls were now painted dark green.
The living room always seemed to be on the left side of the house but in season 7, the living room seems to be on the right side. Plus there were doors that open the room from the entry way and there's also doors in the dining room area
From outside of the window, looking into the living room in season 9
Looks like some sitting area with two chairs facing each other like a sitting room or a den. The living room also went through chances in season 9 alone in both Alternate and later in Blinded.

My best bet is that the Alternate house was done in a real home while the Blinded house was in a set. This time the entry door seems to be on the side of the house? It certainly does look twisted.

This is why I believe that the Blinded house was tape on a set: look closely on the right side of the picture below on the window of the right. The window on the left looks like a typical neighborhood yard while the right window looks like there's an uncompleted set building up.
Where's the two chairs facing each other like in Alternate? Even the Grandfather clock, hat stand have disappeared until reappearing in season 10. However that painting (with the orange background with the red print) also has a strong presence in Blinded (you can see it above pass Casey's right shoulder) in Alternate and later Wildlife
Like in Blinded and maybe in Ripped, you can see the Dining room from the living room in Lunacy
The Grandfather clock reappears (as it did in Alternate). The house looks more like it did in Alternate than in Blinded.
I do believe that the same house was used in Lunacy was the same in Wildlife (both episodes in the same season, 10)
The hat stand is back too, as you can see pass Kathy's shoulder
Note the fireplace went from brick to white to now wood. The chairs from Alternate seems to be back.
There's the Grandfather clock back in place after being missing in Blinded from the previous season
The stairs went from a two-parter to an one-piece, going straight up to the second floor (as it started to look  in season 2)
That bookshelf with the knickknacks and picture frames is new!
So far, the living room from Turmoil looks as it did in Wildlife
However the Alternate/Wildlife chairs seemed to have disappeared and a different couch is there instead. Looks different from Blinded as well as other episodes after

In season 12 (the Stablers final season), the Stabler living room seemed to went through another makeover (I believe, like Blinded and the first 5 seasons were done on a set). This time around, everything looked different- there's no Grandfather clock, hat stand, white couches, chairs, bookshelves, table stands, etc that are recognizable.
From the picture below- I wonder what's behind those set of doors? Another room? A closet? Or is trying to look like it did in seasons 2-3?
I'm noticing that every lamp seems to be on. In the picture below (from Gray), that orange/red artwork disappeared.
In the picture below, note that there's a little side table with a lamp over Kathy's shoulder. The beginning of making up a den? Prior to Gray, the room behind the living room always seemed to the (really nice-style) dining room set.
In Gray (season 12) it looks like that the Stabler home now has a den.
